4 Eye-Opening Reasons to buy (and wear) non padded bras

Almost every day, I talk to women about underwear. One of the most common questions I hear them ask (or read them type) about a bra is, โ€œis it padded ?โ€

It may seem like padded and/or pushup bras, are the only styles to wear if you want the rounder, lifted look to your breasts but this is simply not true. You probably don’t believe me, so if you want to know why, keep scrolling. ๐Ÿ™‚

PS, these apply to not just bras, but all lingerie with actual structured cups.

1. Support: Contrary to what you might have heard, the layers of “foam” in a bra are not really what lifts your boobs. That amazing engineering feat is performed by the underwire (annoying little bugger) and the band of the bra. So, the right size of an unpadded bra will fit you just as well as a padded bra AND lift those babies. A lot of you ladies are plus size/full bust and YES this applies to you too.

2. Comfort: Non padded bras might just be more comfortable than padded bras, in my very humble opinion. Thereโ€™s no unyielding cage trapping your boobies. Itโ€™s more of a gentle pushing in the right direction. Also, your skin gets to breathe. Leaving you less hot and sweaty underneath your clothes.

3. Natural look : Padding can leave you weirdly shaped as your boobs are being forced into whatever shape the bra style is. Some clothes may look better with a little extra something underneath them but most clothes, in the right size, look best without. I think.

4. Style: Non padded bras generally come in more styles and fabrics than padded alternatives. Flirtier, more “fun” prints and embroidery, the never fading beauty of sheer mesh and lace, stunning embroidery, you name it.

Finally, i just want to say, padded bras do have their perks, preventing nipple slips and all that, but their non padded counterparts can lift and shape your boobs just as well. It all comes down to right sizing, patience, and the will to find the perfect bra.

I would love to know your take on the padded vs. unpadded bra dilemma. What kind do you prefer? Any particular reason why? Let me know in the comments.

The top 10 (possibly) lingerie inspired looks from the Met Gala 2017.

I don’t usually do this…

“Pause for dramatic effect”

…but Monday night was amazing.

Even for me, unknown not-yet-rich person, who was watching live on twitter, from the universal headquarters of underwear, Aka my bed.

This is NOT a critique post. Loads of people will be analyzing looks and listing worst and best dressed celebs, just not me.

I’m only writing to share the stunning deliciousness of outfits that struck me as being lingerie-esque in nature.

Without further ado, and in no particuly order…

1. Lala Anthony

What. A. Dress. Do I need to say more, or do you see the magic I’m still trying to absorb? More? OK

Black + Sheer + Adjustable length = A look !

2. Rita Ora

Is it just me? Or would you like to unwrap her for your birthday?

From The sneak peeks of skin, to the sheen of silk satin. See what I did there?  ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. Kendall Jenner

If this isn’t lingerie, I don’t know what is. That’s a proper thong! It’s even made by luxury lingerie house, La Perla. Not sure I’d wear it anywhere but in my future mansion, but I’m not here to judge.

4. The one and only Kerry Washington

I can’t tell if her bra is peeking over the top of this work of art called a dress, or if the cups are a part of it but I love it. Also, I’m really feeling the cutouts that give you glimpses of MELANIN !

5. Ashley Graham

This beauty of an outfit seems corset inspired, no? There’s nothing else to say really. I love her.

6. Mary J. Blige

Three words, “lingerie as outerwear”. Four more words, “look at that body”.

Bonus ! – Gigi Hadid

Okay, the only reason she made my list is, that’s a bodysuit. Keep scrolling please.

7. Nicki Minaj

All I could think was; shapewear underneath a robe. I like it though.

8. Emma Robertson

Don’t those tiny straps and lace remind you of sexy slips and nightgowns?

9. Kim Kardashian

I don’t know about you, but this looks like something to wear while lounging beside a pool on a well deserved, Caribbean vacation. Makes me think of swimsuit cover ups and movie nights with Bae. (One of the Hemsworths, in case you were wondering.)  ๐Ÿ™‚

10. Last, but definitely never EVER the least, Her Royal Highness, Rihanna.

I know. The closest thing to lingerie in her outfit are the thigh high straps from her heels. I also know I said I wouldn’t judge, but for the theme of this years gala, she MURDERED the look. So yes, she gets a seat at the table.

Ofcourse, she owns the entire building so…

There you have it, 10 looks I think may have, in one way or another, on purpose or by chance, been inspired by the glorious world of lingerie.

Are there any looks that made you think underwear-y thoughts? Did I miss someone? Tell me in the comments.

Thank you for reading. The plan is to post more often and now that I’m back to work I will definitely try to.
